If have to mention though that there are people who says it is a little difficult to handle when it hits something solid. I have not had that problem yet, but I mention it to be fair to all.
As hand blenders go, I think we all have to accept that there are limits to what we can expect. You are blending soups, sauces and more in the pot you made it. This is so convenient, but you have to realize you are not going to get the same protection against splashes etc. that you are going to get with a mixer blender with a jug.
If you want to avoid all risk of ever having a splash, a hand blender is not for you. Me, I cannot go without mine. It is used for almost everything, I even make homemade mayonnaise with it.
