Food Processor Recipes for Pasta Sauce and Dips

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010
Rachel Peterson asked:

I love good food but I am a very busy person… like most of us, and have little time to really prepare a good meal.  I love food processor or blender recipes because they tend to be super quick to prepare.  I got myself one of those Magic Bullet blenders and use it to make lots of great, simple and delicious food.  Below are some of my favorite recipes.

Pesto and Spinach Sauce

12 fresh basil leaves

Small bunch of spinach

2 tablespoons pine nuts

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 garlic cloves

Pinch of salt

Parmesan cheese

Place everything in food processor and blend until it makes a grainy paste.  From there heat on stove and use on your favorite pasta dish.

Easy Alfredo Sauce

¼ cup double heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

2 garlic cloves

½ cup parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley

Salt and pepper

Place everything in food processor and blend until smooth.  Heat on stove until ready to serve.  This recipe is rich but absolutely delicious.

Bean Dip

1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained

¼ cup white onion

2 garlic cloves

¼ cup red pepper

¼ cup chicken or veggie broth

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Cayenne pepper to taste

Place all ingredients in food processor and blend until smooth.  This recipe can be frozen and eaten at a late date if desired as well.

Lemon, Garlic, Chickpea Dip

1 (15 ounce) can chick peas, drained

1-2 cloves garlic

1 lemon – juiced

4 sprigs fresh thyme leaves

Salt and pepper to taste

Hot sauce to taste

Put all ingredients in the food processor and blend until smooth.  This yummy dip will leave you smelling like garlic but will taste absolutely delicious.

The two pasta sauces and the two dip recipes can all easily be made in the blender or food processor with little fuss and mess.  The only real cleaning that will need to be done is the food processor and hopefully there are others around to do that job.  Each of these recipes will leave you with garlic breath but hopefully everyone will be eating the same thing so it won’t matter.  Besides garlic is good for us.

How many calories are in TGI Friday’s Mudslide Blenders mix?

Monday, March 15th, 2010
emmy asked:

I loveeeeeeeeee Mudslides. Applebee’s, Famous Dave’s, I don’t care.. they’re all delicious. lol Only problem is how extremely high in calories and fat they are. I was thinking of experimenting making my own “light” version at home, using T.G.I Friday’s “Mudslide Blenders” mix. But does anyone know approximately how many calories (and fat, if any) would be in one serving, and what IS a serving size of it? Thank you to anyone who can help!
I appreciate the calorie king info, I did check it out but it is for the orange mix, I’m looking for the chocolate.

5 Reasons To Invest In A Magic Bullet Blender

Sunday, March 14th, 2010
Linda Bennett asked:

If you are looking to buy a new hand blender, you should consider investing in a magic bullet blender. Here are 5 reasons why this could be a great choice for you, your home, your family and your pocket.

You Can Create Your Own Homemade Smoothies

Instead of spending lots of money on buying smoothies, you can produce your own very quickly and very easily. Making your own at home means you know exactly what ingredients are in your smoothie. You also have the chance to experiment and try different combinations of your own choosing.

You Can Make Individual Servings

The great thing about using a small hand blender is that you can make individual portion sizes. This is great if you only want to do a single serving so that there is no waste or if you are making two or three different types of smoothies or juices or even cocktails. You can make sure everyone gets exactly what they want.

You Can Save Time With Food Preparation

If you enjoy cooking, the magic bullet blender is great for cutting, chopping, grinding and crushing your ingredients together. This will no doubt help to get your finished meal on the dinner table in a lot less time.

You Can Get Rid Of All Your Other Kitchen Appliances

With one small handy kitchen device you will be able to get rid of all those other appliances that take up valuable space on your kitchen counter. There is no need for the cumbersome food processor, the coffee grinder or your old mixer. Everything can be done with one piece of equipment, with minimal effort and it takes up very little room on your kitchen counter top.

You Get A Handy Cookbook

The magic bullet blender comes with a handy cookbook which gives you lots of helpful ideas and recipes about all the wonderful food you can create in your own kitchen. So these are just a few reasons why I like this time saving device. It is a really handy kitchen aid.

If you are thinking about buying a small hand blender find out a little more about the advantages of the magic bullet blender.

Cuisinart CSB-76 Smart Stick Hand Blender - Perfect Soups And Sauces

Saturday, March 13th, 2010
Magrietha Du Plessis asked:

Every cook knows that a perfectly blended soup or sauce is very important. So, that is where the Cuisinart CSB-76 Smart Stick Hand Blender comes in. This handy little tool is invaluable for doing just that.

OK, so you want to know what it is about it that I like the most. I bet you think I will say it is because it is so strong, or because the long shaft makes blending in pots easy or maybe even because the shaft is stainless steel and does not stain. Well, while all that is true, I love it because it is relatively quiet.

I do not know if you have the same problem, but because our kitchen is small, the noise of a hand blender can be overpowering. As I like to make my own mayonnaise, which involves blending for a long time, the noise can really get bad. So, a little quieter goes a long way with me, thank you.

Of course the fact that it is strong yet that it fits your hand very easily cannot be denied. You have to be able to get a good grip on it if you are going to blend a really chunky soup well. Does anyone want to blend another kind of soup? I do not think so! My brother always said if you cannot eat soup with a knife and fork it is too thin, so I think you get the idea.

Another thing that is very important to me, it is easy to clean. I hate kitchen appliances that are difficult to clean. I do not know if you have the same experiences than did? You have this amazing appliance, but because it is so difficult to clean, you never use it. It just sits there, unused!

Well, there you have it, all the reasons why I love the Cuisinart CSB-76 Smart Stick Hand Blender.
