What liquid can I use in a blender when blending solids?

I’m making Pesto Italian Flag Chicken and I’m supposed to combine basil, parsley, pine nuts, soft cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano, salt, and pepper in a Food Processor and process is it into a paste. I don’t have a FP so I plan to use my blender but since you’re supposed to use a liquid to blend something and not burn out the blender what can I use as the liquid? Is it even possible to blend those ingredients? HELP!
