Blender ratings: Difference between ability to puree and smoothie?

June 14th, 2008 | Posted in blenders   Comments Off
Andy S asked:

I’m in the market for a good blender. In reading Consumer Reports, they rated a Kitchen Aid excellent for purees and very good for smoothies. They rated a Braun blender exactly the opposite of the KitchenAid (very good for purees, excellent for smoothies). Isn’t the ability to puree or smoothie the same thing?

MN A asked:

I bought a blender that was shown at the ideal home show. They showed that it could turn milk into cream. I’ve forgotton how they did it (went last year) but I was wondering if there are any internet guides or or if any of you have I am using the ainsley harriot blending system AH109. Thanks for all the help!

How to use Prismacolor Colorless Blender marker?

June 8th, 2008 | Posted in blenders   Comments Off
Ta-Zu asked:

I recently got a set of fleshtone Prismacolor markers as a present from a friend.
There’s a colorless blender marker - I feel really stupid, but I don’t understand how to use it. It just looks like water inside a marker when I use it.

Any tips would be great!

Martin

What is a really good blender for chopping ice, say for mixed drinks and smoothies?

June 7th, 2008 | Posted in blenders   Comments Off
rasilaverie asked:

All the blenders I have bought either get caught on the ice or just spin them around, even with the ice breaker button. I’m looking to invest in a nice blender to get the job done. I’ve had people mention bar blenders to me but I have no idea where to start and what to look for. If someone could recommend a reasonable and durable blender to me it would be much appreciated!

Can I make a veggie drink in a blender instead of a juicer?

June 4th, 2008 | Posted in blenders   Comments Off
livin the dream asked:

or I am losing the nutrients? I am looking for recipes to make veggie drinks but I find that most require a juicer. Why cant I just use a blender? Looking to do a detox for a week or so and don’t know if thier is a specific reason for a juicer rather than a blender.

Oh and recipes would be great!

Thanks!

Johnny

Can I use my food processor as a blender?

June 2nd, 2008 | Posted in blenders   Comments Off
ninfragile19 asked:

I overworked my blender trying to make cheesecake yesterday and the machine began to smoke. Realizing that a food processor is the better for the job, I went out and bought one. Other than using it for solid food, would it do the job if I want to make the occasional shake or smoothie?
