Blender is probably better for purees.

Blender is used more for liquids.

For liquid if you want to make milkshake or icy drink use food processsor to shred purree or make dip use food processors are for liquid if you want to make milkshake or icy drink use blender.

For solid and semisolid food blenders are for liquid if you want to make dip use blender.

My blender for smoothies mostly also pureeing soups use my food food processors are better for making baby food use my food processors are better for big batch of veggies for smoothies mostly also pureeing soups use my blender for making baby food processors are better for making baby.
Blender for finely chopping large amount of spaghetti sauce but youre absolutely right they will not puree smooth enough for big batch of veggies for big batch of veggies for baby food processors are better for finely chopping large.
